Life Story Writing classes are modeled after the Guided Autobiography program developed by James Birren, former head of The Birren Center & Autobiographical Studies Program at the University of Southern Califonia.
Guided Autobiography (GAB) is a process for life story preservation/exploration through individual autobiographical writing and group sharing.
KEY COMPONENTS of the program:
Students use their own time between classes for personal reflection on the life theme and write their stories to share at the next class session.
Students read two pages in pairs or small groups, hear the stories of other group members, and provide/receive encouraging feedback.

George Colliat and Sal Quintero, students from the class shown above, weaved their 2-page stories into fascinating reads with incredible family photos. Their accomplishments culminated in published books to be shared with their current family and generations to come!
